An Excellent College Reference Book
One of my favorite college guides is the
"Fiske Guide to Colleges"by Edward B. Fiske
This guide gives you the culture of the different colleges. What is it like on campus? What type of students will you find? How do professors interact with students? What are the schools strongest programs? What are the overlap schools? In addition there are comments from students who attend. Check it out!

Developing a list of good college matches
* The Big question is not how will a college choose me, but how will I choose
the right college
* “Good College” means nothing if it is not a good fit for you.
* There is more then One College that is a good match for each student.
* It is more important for a school to offer a student the opportunities to let them shine rather than letting the school shine for them.
* Only 100 schools and certain majors are highly selective

Write your college essay this summer
Seniors in high school, summer is the perfect time to write your college essay before the fall rush. The essay is the hardest but one of the most important parts of your college application. It is your special voice and can tip the scales for you. When writing be creative - "Show Don't Tell" Write about experiences that have made you grow. Admissions staff read many essays - wake them up with yours.
